Marie-Hélène de Taillac loves Tokyo. “There are so few old buildings, one feels completely free to create the space of one’s dreams,” she says. For her boutique in the heart of Aoyama, she called on Australian designer Marc Newson, who was immediately inspired by the streamlined aesthetic of her creations. The result is a showcase done entirely in leather and lacquer. Newson used MHT’s signature powder blue to lacquer the walls, setting them with “futuristic screen-windows”. Tactile and sensual white leather flooring dissipates sound. The space is at once futuristic and ultra-luxurious.
